Laura Stuart
Artist/Author/Teacher
My name is Laura Stuart, and I’m a mixed media artist from Pittsburgh, PA. For me, art isn’t just about creating—it’s about fostering a space where everyone can find their place in the world of creativity. I believe art belongs to everyone and should always be approached with inclusivity at its heart.
I studied Visual Communications at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Fine Arts at Westminster College, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts Communications. That foundation deepened my commitment to making art accessible to all. Later, I pursued an Art Education degree and certification at Carlow University, which ignited my passion for teaching and inspired me to ensure everyone has the chance to explore their creative potential.

Throughout my career, I’ve been devoted to inclusivity in the arts. For six years, I worked as a Team Leader in a creative day program, helping people with intellectual disabilities tap into their artistic talents and experience the transformative power of creativity. Building on that, I co-conceptualized and now direct Studio Forget-Me-Not in Carnegie, PA. Over the past six years, I’ve nurtured this space with teachers, volunteers, and the community into a vibrant space where creativity thrives and people from all walks of life are welcomed.
Beyond my advocacy for inclusive artistry, I’ve pursued my own creative dreams. Selling, branding, and merchandising my work has taught me about the business side of art, but I’ve always stayed true to my belief that creativity should be accessible to all.
My own artistic journey has been deeply influenced by the craftsmanship and curiosity instilled in me by my mother and grandmothers, all creators and artists. Designing textiles, where colors, patterns, and textures blend to create something meaningful, is a reflection of that heritage. While I love working in the non-profit world, it’s my dream to one day become a kitschy shop owner. I imagine a space filled with my textile designs and handmade artistic dresses, all with a mid-mod flair—a place where creativity is celebrated, and people can find joy in art and design.

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share my journey and my work with the world, always believing that creativity knows no bounds and truly belongs to everyone.
